You Are Not Alone

I have a friend that I met a few years ago back when I was in high school around my junior year (the same time I went back to the david demarie dance studio). I met Sean in a television and sound production class at Erie 1 BOCES. He was one of the first kids I talked to when I first went there. He seemed really cool and we shared a lot of the same interests. We only talked on the first or second day of class (can’t remember for sure). We didn’t really talk much after the next couple of months. Why? Well he met this girl he really liked (yeah…you know where this is going…). Sean started hanging out with this girl that was in our class. I won’t say her name, so lets call her Carrie. I knew Sean liked Carrie but I really didn’t think much of it. Sean went to Carrie’s birthday party, the movies etc. Yes they cuddled, yes she told Sean that she loved him and everything! It seemed to go good with both of them. But things are too good to be true….right? The next day, Carrie completely betrayed Sean and went for some other guy that was in our class. This other guy had his eyes on her for awhile but he never said anything to her and he knew Sean and Carrie were both going out. According to Sean, this other guy read Carrie a poem he found online and she instantly fell for him and stabbed Sean in the back. Sean told me all of this a year later.  During our senior year, we finally started to hang out and he told everything that happened. The first day when Carrie and Sean broke up, one of Carrie’s friends ran around the room in our class telling everybody about Carrie and Sean breaking up. I was a little confused and didn’t really know what was going on at that time. But Sean told me everything. Sean was so depressed when Carrie betrayed him. On Christmas 2009, Sean’s mom and dad had a fight and Sean and his sister spent the holidays inside a car crying because everything was going downhill with his own personal matters and his family. Im sure there is more to the story but this is all I can remember exactly from what Sean told me. During our senior year, we both became great friends and started hanging out a lot.

So high school was over and Summer 2011 was here. Truthfully, Sean and I did not hang out that much over the summer. He became interested in another girl that was from his school (that he went to prom with). We did text here and there but we did our own thing. Towards the end of August. We finally were able to hang out one day. Then something happened. This girl he liked so much just randomly stopped talking to him and got mad at him over nothing. I won’t say her real name so lets call her Beth. It made no sense. How could you be bad at somebody for no reason? He told me they hanged out with friends, laughed and had fun. The next day, Beth completely hated and shunned him. He got really upset.  He told me that Beth and his friends went to Pizza Hut one day. Typical, just hanging out and nothing special. During that time, Sean was starting to develop strong feelings for her. Out of the blue, she randomly told everybody that she liked some guy that was from Florida. Apparently, this guy raped his ex girlfriend and for some dumb reason and she for some stupid reason was attracted to him….hey! This sounds familiar…(cough…cough…Sweeney Todd). I don’t understand it at all. Why does she like somebody that is abusive and a frickin rapist? These kind of girls are attracted to the pain. Like a mafia is to a flame, destined to get burn! So college was starting for both of us and Sean told me that he was going to buy gifts and a card for Beth. He thought giving her lovely gifts and a card could change her mind about him (even though nobody knows why she suddenly got mad at him…). Around the fall, Sean drove to her house and placed gifts on her doorstep and sent a huge emotional text on her phone. Apparently, Beth cried and  didn’t accept Sean’s gifts. Everything just died that night. I still don’t understand what happened between him and her. I don’t know the whole story. There is probably more, but this is from what Sean has told me. Recently, he met this other girl that flirted with Sean at his friend’s house. This girl kept seducing him and being a slut you might say. The girl is about sixteen and Sean is three years older than she is. Sean wasn’t so sure about the idea of being with a girl that is three years younger than him. He tried to give it a chance perhaps. He decided to spend time with her. They spent hours talking at his house and hanging around. The girl then kissed Sean. He told me he didn’t feel anything. It was getting late so he had to drive her home. A few days passed and things began to happen. Out of the blue, this girl told Sean that she was pregnant. Sean was disgusted and I was disgusted. Again, some random lowlife raped her and now her life is officially ruined by this. She tries to act all sweet and flirty with Sean but I told him she is not worth it.

About six months ago, Sean and I were in our second semester of college. During the first week, Sean and I decided to pray at a local church that was by the campus every thursday and hoped things would get better for both of us (because we had a night class that day). We wanted God to give us guidance from our pain and sorrow.  The first day we went to the church, it was blizzard outside. Snow and ice was blowing all over. Sean and I said a prayer and walked out. The second we walked out of the church, it stopped snowing completely. We thought it could have been a sign. Then something amazing happened. As we were driving back to the campus, a beam of light came out of the sky and the light shun right on Sean and I. I was able to get a picture of the sun’s beam that was directly on us. The picture is now the background on my cell phone. We though this was a sign from God, Jesus and our ancestors. We were praying that things would get better. A couple of months later, tragedy striked. Sean’s father had a coma at his work and was rushed to the hospital. Sean got the news at his house when he was alone. After he got that call, he grabbed the holy bible and started praying. His mom and sister came home and they all drove to the hospital. I was very worried. Sean didn’t show up for a week at school and I was praying for him and his family. For college, you cannot miss class. It is not high school anymore. Then, Sean told me something. Sean told me his dad went to heaven and saw God on his birthday! According to Sean’s dad, his spirit went to heaven and he saw all of his ancestors. Sean told me his dad saw somebody that looked exactly like Sean but with his beard. Perhaps his great grandfather or something? Then, God told his dad that it wasn’t his time to leave yet. God said he had to go back to his body because it wasn’t time yet. So Sean’s father returned from Heaven and was upset because he had to leave. Heaven was paradise according to Sean’s father. Heaven is the light. This experience proved to Sean and I that faith is with us when we need it. Sean told his father that him and I have been praying for months since school started at the church. When Sean told his dad that, Sean’s dad whispered in his ear….”I know…..”
